Firepit Safety Tips
Never burn pressure-treated wood in your home fire pit. It can release harmful toxins into the air.
If the weather is windy, hang out indoors. Windy conditions can wreak havoc on fire pit nights, blowing smoke into your guests’ faces and blowing embers around your property.
Check to see if there’s a burn ban in effect. You don’t want your #FirePitFriday ruined by a visit from law enforcement.
Keep water on-hand. Whether it’s a bucket or a hose, keep plenty of water at the ready to extinguish any rogue flames.
Put it out completely. When you’re ready to call it a night, be sure to douse your fire with water or sand to smother any flames entirely before you head to bed.
